How to use this calculator

  1. Enter monthly take-home income, essential spending, discretionary spending, saving and extra debt allocation.
  2. Choose a display currency, then select Calculate. Results also update after a brief pause while you edit.
  3. Read the result with the assumptions below. Export details or save a second scenario to compare your choices.

Formula and method

Total allocations = essential + discretionary + saving/debt allocation. Unallocated amount = take-home income − total allocations.

Assumptions and limitations

All inputs cover the same month. Saving is an allocation, not a consumption expense. Include regular debt payments within essential spending and avoid counting them twice.

Worked example

Income of 4,000 less allocations of 2,000 + 800 + 700 leaves 500 unallocated.

What the result means

A negative unallocated balance signals that the entered plan exceeds take-home income. The tool does not impose a universal spending rule.

Common questions

Should I enter gross salary?

No. Enter money actually available after payroll deductions.

Is a saving allocation an expense?

It uses your monthly cash but is shown as a separate allocation rather than consumption.
