How to use this calculator

  1. Enter original price, first discount (%), second discount (%).
  2. Choose a display currency, then select Calculate. Results also update after a brief pause while you edit.
  3. Read the result with the assumptions below. Export details or save a second scenario to compare your choices.

Formula and method

Final price = original × (1 − first rate) × (1 − second rate). Effective discount = (1 − remaining-price factor) × 100%.

Assumptions and limitations

The second reduction applies to the already discounted price. No tax, shipping, coupons with fixed values or retailer eligibility conditions are assumed.

Worked example

A price of 100 discounted by 20%, then 10%, becomes 72: the combined discount is 28%, not 30%.

What the result means

Use a zero second discount for a single reduction. At an original price of zero, monetary saving is zero and the modeled percentage factors still apply.

Common questions

Can I add the two discounts?

No. Sequential discounts multiply the remaining price factors.

Does this include shipping or tax?

No. Add those separately according to the transaction rules.
