How to use this calculator

  1. Enter initial investment, assumed effective annual gross return (%), annual fee on post-return balance (%), years.
  2. Choose a display currency, then select Calculate. Results also update after a brief pause while you edit.
  3. Read the result with the assumptions below. Export details or save a second scenario to compare your choices.

Formula and method

Each year apply gross growth, then deduct fee percentage from the post-return balance. Compare with the same gross-return path without fees.

Assumptions and limitations

Annual fee timing is explicitly after annual returns. Constant rates, no deposits, withdrawals or tax. Real funds can charge fees on another schedule.

Worked example

Starting at 10,000, apply 8% annual growth and a 1% charge on each year’s post-growth balance. Net annual growth is 6.92%; compare ten years with the fee-free path.

What the result means

Separate direct fees paid from the ending-value difference that includes lost compounding.
