How to use this calculator

  1. Enter opening cohort mrr, expansion mrr, contraction mrr, churned mrr.
  2. Choose a display currency, then select Calculate. Results also update after a brief pause while you edit.
  3. Read the result with the assumptions below. Export details or save a second scenario to compare your choices.

Formula and method

NRR = (opening cohort revenue + expansion − contraction − churn) / opening cohort revenue × 100%.

Assumptions and limitations

All amounts must refer to one opening cohort and matching period. Losses cannot exceed opening revenue plus expansion.

Worked example

With opening cohort mrr = 10000, expansion mrr = 1500, contraction mrr = 300, churned mrr = 200, net revenue retention is approximately 110%.

What the result means

NRR can exceed 100% when expansion offsets losses. New-customer revenue is excluded.
